Here students are trying to get to the refrigerator to select any type of food and take it back to the table(blue mat) without being tagged. They then place it on the correct part of the mat. GREEN = GO FOOD (EAT as much as often as you want), Yellow = SLOW FOOD (Be careful too much of this food, too often, can be unhealthy), RED = WHOA FOOD (You should only be eating this on special occasions, such as your birthday). If they become tagged by the "tv remotes" they become "couch potatoes". Everyone knows being a "couch potato" is not healthy so students have the option to select a healthy food from the table and then try to match it to the correct food group by placing it into the correct part of our friend Dino D's colorful tail. Here each part of his tail (hula hoops) represents a different food group. After they have selected the correct food group they select their favorite exercise, do five reps and then go back into the game and try to help save the other "couch potatoes" (Classmates who have been tagged).
Students in the pictures are testing their Nutrition knowledge during creative movement activities. Students have worked on various lessons/Activities all year long. They have built on what they have learned both inside of Mrs. Margrif's classroom as well as at home.
