Dear Cardinal Families, As you know, the Village of Dryden has partnered with the Lapeer County Drain Commission to address local drainage problems. Work on this started this summer and continues into the fall. While we had hoped that the work affecting the day-to-day operations of the school would have been completed by now, that portion is beginning now. While the school has no control over the project's timeline, we are doing our best to implement alternate plans to lessen the impact on families. Because this construction directly affects Pleasant Street and North Street, we are making updates to our arrival and dismissal procedures. Key changes include: moving staff parking to open spaces in the north lot, relocating CELA parking to the north lot, moving school buses to the front of the building, and adding additional overflow parking at St. Cornelius Church. Safety First & Parking Guidelines: Because traffic patterns are changing, please drive with extra care and caution around campus. Watch for pedestrians, follow all posted signage, obey staff and/or police direction, and keep speeds low. ● St. Cornelius Parking Lot: We are extremely grateful to St. Cornelius for graciously allowing our school and families to use their parking lot. To show our respect for their generosity, please follow all posted signage on church property and be mindful that access may be limited during scheduled church events. ● North Lot Changes: The parking lot will be relined on Friday, August 21, 2026. We are adding in a crosswalk to enhance safety. Parents and children are required to use the crosswalk area. Parking is permitted in marked spots only. DO NOT PARK in unmarked spaces or spots marked no parking (either with a sign or lines on the pavement). We have vehicles of various sizes that require the space available to maneuver through the parking lot. ● Maps & Sharing: Detailed maps outlining these changes are attached to help you navigate drop-off and pick-up zones. Please share this communication and attached maps with anyone else who may be driving your student (grandparents, babysitters, carpool drivers, etc.). As we receive construction updates from the Village and the Drain Commission, we will continue to share that information directly with you. The following changes go into effect on Monday, August 24th and remain in effect until further notice: Elementary K-6 Families: ● Prior to 8:00 AM: No changes. ● Morning Drop-off (8:00 AM – 8:30 AM): Front parking is unavailable (buses relocated here). Use the loop lane, the north lot, or St. Cornelius. Students will enter in the back as normal. ● Afternoon Pick-up (3:00 PM – 3:45 PM): Front parking is unavailable. Please avoid picking up students during this window if possible. Bus students load first at the front of the building; dismissal pick-up remains in the back courtyard (students may exit slightly later than normal). ● Loop Lane Rules: Available only for students who can walk safely and independently to/from the school and lot. Students must enter/exit on the passenger side. Drivers must stay in their vehicles. If leaving your car, park in a marked spot. ● Daytime Visits: If front spots are closed, park in the north lot or church spaces. ● Important Reminders: ○ Safety & Pedestrians: Follow posted signage. Pedestrians have the right of way. Staff will be on hand to assist, and all parents using the north lot must use designated crosswalks. ○ Time & Patience: Plan ahead and adjust your schedule. Pack your patience—everyone is doing their best. ○ Parking Capacity & Flow: With 120+ vehicles sharing 85 north lot spots, please keep traffic moving and refrain from long chats. Schedule appointments for detailed staff conversations. ○ Traffic & Alternatives: Mill Street traffic stops during bus loading/unloading. Consider using bus transportation—call (810) 724-9852 to set this up. Carpooling or walking (if you live in town) are also great options. CELA and Cardinal Club Families: ● Prior to 8:00 AM: No changes. ● Morning Drop-off (8:00 AM – 8:30 AM): Front parking is unavailable (buses relocated here). If dropping off after 8:00 AM, park at St. Cornelius and walk across the street to the appropriate CELA or Cardinal CLub door. ● 8:15 AM Drop-off: Utilize the north parking lot. but you must park and walk your child to the CELA door. ● Afternoon Pick-up (3:00 PM – 3:45 PM): Front parking is unavailable. Families picking up at the regular end of school day dismissal times must utilize the north lot and walk to the appropriate door. ● Daytime Visits: If you have school business lasting longer than 10 minutes during the day, please park in either the north lot or St. Cornelius spaces. ● Important Reminders: ○ No Parking in the Loop Lane: If you get out of your vehicle, you must park in a marked spot. ○ Time & Patience: Plan ahead and adjust your time. A Little Snack Can Make a BIG Difference

As we head into a new school year, we know many families are feeling the impact of inflation, rising grocery costs, and higher gas prices.

Our PTA Snack Closet helps make sure our Cardinals have access to a snack when they need one.

We’re looking for individually packaged, shelf-stable snacks such as:

Granola bars
Crackers
Fruit snacks
Applesauce or fruit cups
Popcorn
Cereal bars
Other kid-friendly, non-perishable snacks
Every box helps. Every snack matters. And every donation is another way we can show our Cardinals that their community cares.

Here’s our goal: If 100 people donated just ONE box of shelf-stable snacks, we could help ensure that no child has to worry about being hungry at school.

One box. One small act of kindness. A BIG difference for our kids.

Let’s fill our Snack Closet and take care of our Cardinals! ❤️💙🐦

(Pictured below was our amazing donations from last year thank you to the community!

a tower of snack food
A little breakfast love for our amazing teachers!

The first day back to school calls for coffee, carbs, and a whole lot of PTA love!

We kicked off the school year by treating our teachers and staff to a breakfast spread with bagels, muffins, and refreshments!

And because we wanted to make sure we could warm up their day, we even brought in a toaster!

Here’s to a brand-new school year! We’re so excited to support our teachers, staff, and Cardinals all year long.

Welcome back Dryden! Let’s make it a great one!

☀️ Senior Sunrise ☀️

The Dryden High School Class of 2027 began their senior year together this morning with Senior Sunrise at Stremler Field!

This special tradition gave our seniors an opportunity to gather with friends and watch the beginning of a new day—and the beginning of their final year at Dryden High School.

Thank you to Mrs. Maday, the Class of 2027 sponsor, for coordinating this memorable event for our seniors. We hope the Class of 2027 has a wonderful senior year! ❤️🖤

Understanding and supporting our students goes beyond the classroom. During our professional development, our dedicated educators participated in an interactive poverty simulation to better appreciate the complex, real-world realities many families navigate. It was a powerful reminder of the power of compassion, community, and meeting every child right where they are. #proudcardinal
